What Is The Sound That Occurs With Some Adjustments?

Sometimes the quick movment of the spinal joints during certain types of adjustments may be accompanied by an audible release of gas (joint cavitation). The audible sound is caused by the release of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide, these gases can release from the normal spinal fluid in and around the joints being adjusted. The sensation is usually relieving, though sometimes, short term minor discomfort occurs if the surrounding muscles are in spasm, or previously irritated from an injury or chronic malfuntion in the region. Typically any aches associated with the adjustment give way to improved feeling in the first few visits.
